Following Kelly Hynes kind words, Overlordtour received the following from Mark, Kelly’s husband about all of our efforts on their behalf. It was gratifying to us to learn of the extent of appreciation for our humble but important efforts:
Hello Alain:
Please forgive the delay in this note.
Where do I even begin to thank you for the phenomenal time of our lives you
coordinated for us in Normandy? Thank you doesn't seem adequate. You moved
me and my family to tears many times on June 5. Your leadership and
skillful management of the day and the coordination of the many participants
is a credit to you. Sarkozy should give you an award for all you do to
advance Franco-American friendship and mutual respect. Bravo!!
In many ways, it seems like my work is just beginning. I'd like to write a
personal note of thanks to the key people involved with the day. Could you
send me the names and addresses of those most responsible for the incredible
day?
I'd also like to reimburse you for the photos you took. Just let me know
your costs for developing them or placing them on a CD and I'll get the Euro
to you.
I wrote an account of the day which I sent to the reporter in Akron. I have
not yet heard back from him, but remain hopeful.
I also wrote a more detailed description of the day that I would like to
share with you. I am nearly finished. I just need to confirm the names of
our hosts during the day and then I will e-mail it to you.
What else can I do for you? Is there anywhre on-line that I could write a
testimonial to your outstanding service or any one I could write to in
France to praise your work? I have some French friends in Saarbrucken who
can help me translate anything I write.
A most heart-felt thank you for your brilliant work to honor our uncle! You
will always have the friendship of our family.
Warmest personal regards,
Mark, Kelly, and Ambrose |
Overlordtour posts this story because it wishes to demonstrate it’s ongoing dedication, as well as the continuing gratitude of the French public, even 60 + years later to the sacrifice of men such as Richard Lynch in giving the ultimate sacrifice of their lives, as well as to the families of all these men who Overlordtour never wants to see forgotten, for the sacrifice of freedom for all of us who remain in France, and Europe at large. We hope everyone reading this story understands that Overlordtour’s paramount mission is preservation of the memory of this historic event, as well as the memory of those that gave so much. Although it could be said, as true, that Overlordtour receives monetary compensation for it’s tours and services from it’s clients, what remains unsaid, but nevertheless more important, is that the real remuneration in our work is the satisfaction in knowing that we have provided not only countless families like the O’neil and Lynch families with these memories, but more importantly, as witness to the world, that WE, as a committed tour company, WILL NEVER FORGET THIS SACRIFICE, and never want the world to forget what we know is true about the courage of the men, and families, behind these events.
