My Name is Mickaël Patin. Date of birth: 8 July 1989.
I was born and raised in Cherbourg, at the north of the Cotentin Peninsula, a deep-water port of the first importance for the Allies in 1944. Liberated on the 27th of June by 3 American divisions, the Germans decided to blow up the harbor. After a month of fixing, it was the most important harbor in the world at that time. I am proud of my region of Normandy and the culture related to it.
I am 26 years old and I have worked in the tourism sector for 4 years. I started as a receptionist in a WW2 museum but thanks to my passion for History, I then became a guide there. Now I want to be outside, on the beaches, to speak about the D-Day landing and the Battle of Normandy.
I love to travel when I am not working so that I can discover countries, meet people and learn languages. So far, I have traveled only in Europe and I am able to speak English, Spanish and Italian. That’s why I am so interested in being a guide, to speak in a foreign language, meeting people from everywhere and talking about a topic I’m passionate about.
