Lucas Ducourtioux

Lucas, Born in 1999 and raised in Normandy. I grew up in Granville a little peninsula where also the tailor Christian Dior was born.

I work for Overlord tours since September 2025, I do my passion through this job and I learn details everyday. Is always a mission everyday to honoring their sacrifice, few veterans left right now. So is our missions to tell their stories and make sure they’re never forgotten.

My family remember the battle of Normandy in 44 very well and I learnt many little stories through my family.

My uncle was 9 years old in 44, he saw an American soldier for the first time, and he gave to him an orange from California. First time for him. And after that when he grew up he just wanted to buy oranges from California.
My great grand father joined the French 2nd Armored Division in 44 and he went in Paris, Strasbourg and he ended up at the eagle’s nest in Berchtesgaden (Germany) with the 101st Airborne Division.

I used to come with my school at Omaha beach when I was little and after with my family to see the sites and the commemorations, after those days, it was impossible for me to forget them so I started to do some reenactment during the commemoration of D-DAY and I met WW2 veterans.

I’d always an interest for the uniforms and to help the people, so during my high school I became volunteer firefighter and I joined the French Army for 5 years. Just after high school when I was 20.

After my service I decided to work in New-Zealand during 1 year on a vineyard and learned English over there.

After my visa, come back in Normandy was an evidence, you will see my region is so beautiful, lot of history everywhere, larges beaches, the countryside is very green and you will find the best food you’ve ever had but Normandy without rain is not Normandy so make sure to bring your favorite rain jacket with you.

After that, coming back to Normandy was inevitable. You will see how beautiful my region is with history everywhere, stunning beaches, and green, picturesque countryside. You will also find the best food you’ve ever had. But Normandy without rain is not Normandy so make sure to bring your favourite rain jacket with you!
