  1. Spot 1 Omaha Beach

Omaha Beach is the most famous of the five beaches of June 6, 1944. US divisions engaged in the operation lost some 4,700 men who were killed, wounded or missing. This was the highest rate of loss on D-Day across all of the five landing zones. The beach was quickly nicknamed "Bloody Omaha" (Omaha, the bloody). The two American infantry divisions that landed at 6:30am (the 1st division on the eastern half of the beach and the 29th division on the west half) lived in critical moments. The first two waves of assault were decimated in just a few minutes. All of the army and navy engineering battalions suffered heavy casualties: their mission was to eliminate the many obstacles scattered on the beaches that prevented a rapid advance. The sappers were exposed to enemy fire without real cover. In the chaos, small groups still managed to infiltrate the German fortifications to penetrate inland. The day before D-Day, however, the situation was still precarious .... Overlordtour will transport you to this decisive day of the landing with the greatest historical accuracy! Our guides, famous for their passion and knowledge, will give you all the keys needed to understand June 6, 1944. Follow us! ....

  2. Spot 2 American Cemetery of Colleville-Sur-Mer

This Cemetery, extends over 172.5 acres, and is one of fourteen permanent American World War II cemeteries constructed on foreign soil.It contains the remains of 9387 servicemen and women killed for our freedom. The American Cemetery of Colleville conveys an unforgettable feeling of honor, peace and serenity.

  3. Spot 3 Bayeux (Tour from the ports of Le Havre and Honfleur)

Bayeux is a medieval town in Normandy and the first town to be liberated by the Allied forces after D-Day. It is also famous for the tapestry that tells the story of the events leading up Norman conquest of England. The town was relatively unscathed after D Day meaning that the beautiful buildings still remain today. This was mainly due to the fact that Bayeux was liberated on the morning of 7th June. The German forces focussed their efforts in defending Caen and much of the city there was damaged.

  4. Spot 4 Honfleur (Tour from the ports of Le Havre and Honfleur)

City of Art and History situated at the mouth of the Seine, Honfleur immediately enchants the visitors by revealing its charming fishing and sailing port, its old picturesque narrow streets, and its old timber-framed or slate-fronted houses. A magnificent collection of buildings that have inspired numerous painters. The Vieux Basin quays, surrounded by typical residences, as well as the beautiful narrow streets lined with art galleries and workshops, are a great place for a wander. There's loads to discover !

  5. Spot 5 Sainte Mere Eglise (Tour from Cherbourg)

Sainte Mere Eglise is one of the most memorable places depicted in the famous movie: The Longest Day. This tour will show you the famous church tower upon which the American paratrooper John Steele landed and became entangled as he parachuted into Normandy on June 6th. An actual mannequin of Steele has been hung with parachute on the church tower to commemorate his courageous jump.Although Sainte-Mere-Eglise was the area where the 82nd Airborne were schedule to jump and land, the first paratroopers who landed here were instead, members of the 101st Airborne Division. Several groups of the 101st Division, landed here, miles away from their Drop Zone, and instead, mistakenly landed on top of this village. "Easy Company", for the most part was also misdropped southeast of the town with some men landing in the center of the Village. "Dog", "Easy" and "Fox" Companies belonging to 2nd Battalion 506th PIR were also to jump at around 1:00 a.m. on DZ "C", near Sainte-Marie-du-Mont. Instead, due to all of these missed drops, Sainte-Mere-Eglise was officially the first town liberated at 4:30 AM on the day of the Invasion.
